Well, it’s about 100 days now from the event. I’m getting mentally (and physically) psyched up. I’ve set some pretty hard training goalsĀ  which are intended to ramp up intensity and stamina for stage type events. Mainly doing 3x back-to-back 150km rides a week that include about 1000m climbs each time. Then in between I7ll do my regular training which is early morning intervals or tire ‘hiki’.

Equipment is getting sorted, but it’s still up in the air whether I’ll ride my old steel bike or a generic carbon. I’ll go faster on my carbon, but the steel bike brings back memories and is so smooth to ride. I’m really torn about this one.

Did my annual comprehensive health check and will know all the results in a week or 2. This will give me some benchmarks for blood work, etc that I can use for fine tuning and also determine any trouble spots. My overall physique is on schedule – I’m at just under 65kg and BMI is just under 20. For Haute Route I plan to be at about 60kg with BMI of 18 or 19. To put this into know perspective – I have similar body type as Levi Leipheimer, I only wish I had his power! Haha!

I also scored these great eyewear! This makes me really want to ride this one on my old bike!
